About
Our business was started on July 25, 1941, by G. B. Tuttle, H. R. Hendrix, Ray Cornatzer and Wade Smith in Wallburg, NC. They were originally "saw millers" and needed a place to take their lumber to have it manufactured. Tuttle and Hendrix bought out Cornatzer and Smith in 1945 and Albert Berrier joined the company. Tuttle and Berrier then went into the retail building supply business and moved from Wallburg to Winston-Salem in 1945/1946, to what was then called Stadium Drive. Throughout the years we have taken pride in being a Christian-owned and operated business and known for providing "dependable" building materials and service. During the early years, most of our lumber was sold to the federal government to be used for army barracks before WWII. On June 2, 1952, Tuttle Lumber Company provided the first piece of lumber for building the current Wake Forest University. Tuttle Lumber Company is proud to be in its third generation of management:
Kenneth (Kent) Berrier, Jr. – President/Treasurer
Ricky Tuttle - Vice President/Secretary
Clifton Berrier – Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
