Tuttle Lumber Company Beginnings

  • TLC was started in 1941 in Wallburg, NC
  • Most of the initial lumber sales were made to the federal government to be used for army barracks before WWII
  • TLC moved to Stadium Drive in Winston-Salem in 1945
  • The first phone number for TLC was 3-4318
  • On June 2, 1952, TLC provided the first piece of lumber for Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem
  • In December 1979, two buildings were completely destroyed by fire, but the business never closed
  • In July of 2021, TLC celebrated its 80th anniversary!
